GOOFIRM - Collective action to end violence against women and girls.
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is an annual international campaign aimed at raising awareness and promoting actions to eliminate violence against women and girls. In 2024, civil society organizations (CSOs) are coming together to amplify their voices and efforts in the fight against GBV with theme “RESPONDING AND REBUILDING AFTER THE ABUSE”.
Yesterday in a collective action in #Limbe, we started raising awareness by educating communities about the various forms of violence against women and girls, including physical, sexual, emotional, and economic abuse while highlighting the impact of GBV on health, well-being, and societal development.
Encouraging individuals, communities, and organizations to take action against GBV through advocacy, education, and support services and to promote the importance of reporting violence and seeking help.
With a team spirit that foster collaboration among CSOs, UN agencies, government agencies, and community leaders to create a united front against GBV, we share resources, best practices, and strategies for effective intervention and prevention by providing platforms for survivors to share their stories and advocate for their rights and to ensure that survivors have access to necessary support services, including counseling, legal aid, and healthcare.
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence 2024 is a critical opportunity for civil society organizations to unite and take collective action to end violence against women and girls. By raising awareness, mobilizing communities, strengthening partnerships, and empowering survivors, we can work towards a future free from violence and discrimination. Together, we can make a difference and advocate for the rights and dignity of all women and girls.
